Overview

Quest to gain a stone to add the Shadow Slayer property to an Isparian Weapon. Unlike other stones, the change is permanent and the stone cannot be removed.

• You must have a Repaired Shadow Stone from the Repaired Shadow Stone Quest in order to start this quest.
• You will also need three Decanter of Essences to complete your Shadowfire Weapon.
• To get the title "Honorary Shadow Hunter" you have to give a completed stone to Sarkin Killcrane, which means if you want both the title and the stone you will need to repeat the quest.

Walkthrough & Notes

Part 1: Empyrean Workshop

1. Show the Repaired Shadow Stone to Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist in Xarabydun to get flagged for the first dungeon portal.
2. Go to the Empyrean Workshop at 66.9N, 15.9E near Neydisa Castle.
3. From the drop continue east until you come to stairs leading down into a large room. Do not jump down into any of the pits. From there go east and down, once down go west until you come to a room with the Inner Chamber Guardian who you can either kill now, or on your return trip, he drops the Inner Chamber Key. Do not use key yet.
4. Everyone must pick up the Empyrean Notebook from the ground and then portal out.
5. Take the book to Bretself the Translator in Cragstone at 26.0N 47.0E to get Atlan's Coded Notebook.
6. Take the translated book to Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist in Xarabydun to be flagged for the second dungeon.
7. Return to the Empyrean Workshop and take the same path down, this time use the Inner Chamber Key to open the door just past the golem and go in the portal to Atlan's Laboratory.

Part 2: Atlan's Laboratory

1. From the drop continue to the large ocatagon room with a pit in the middle. Jump down then run south. At the first intersection go west. You'll come to a large room that loops around (shaped like the letter "C"). Follow the room until you come to the northeast corner where tunnel leads off to the east. Go east past the first intersection just past the room (T intersection west south east) then stick right the rest of the way.
2. You will cross several bridges then come to a platform in lava, Atlan's Crafting Golem spawns here and he drops five or six Damaged Stone Infusers. He is on a 5 minute respawn timer.
3. Return to Xarabydun and give the Damaged Stone Infuser to Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist for 161 million xp, Ciandra's Stone Infuser Instructions and Repaired Stone Infuser.
4. Take Cragstone to Haliana housing portal and then go West along the beach then up into the mountain to Shade of Farelaith at 74.3N, 58.6E and give him the Repaired Shadow Stone and Decanter of Essence for a Dormant Shadowfire Stone.
   • Route: Cragstone to Haliana portal at 26.2N 46.3E.
5. Apply a Decanter of Essence to the Repaired Stone Infuser to obtain a Charged Stone Infuser.
6. Use the Charged Stone Infuser on the Dormant Shadowfire Stone to obtain the Shadowfire Stone.

1. Optional: Unwanted stones can be given to Sarkin Killcrane in Wai Jhou for experience and a title reward.

(Optional) Part 3: Coverting the Stone into a Shadownether or Life-attuned Shadowfire Stone

This step makes the stone useful for mages trained in Void Magic (Nether) and offensive Life Magic

1. If you are looking to obtain the Shadownether Stone or Life-attuned Shadowfire Stone return the Shadowfire Stone to the Shade of Farelaith. Dialog boxes will pop up, just answer accordingly:
   1. Dialogue box pops up asking "Do you wish this stone attuned to the power of Nether?"
   2. If no, another box pops up asking "Do you wish this stone attuned to be able to craft a Life-attuned Shadowfire Isparian Wand?"
2. The stone is now ready to either be inserted into an Isparian Weapon.

Kuyiza begins translating and transcribing the text for you, happily chatting along as she works.

Kuyiza bint Zayi the Translator tells you, "It has been such a long while since I have had something new to work with. People usually bring me bits of parchment from Frore... not that I mind Frore..."

Kuyiza bint Zayi the Translator tells you, "Sometimes they bring me something about the undead scholar Rytheran... but I've seen most of what is said in those texts already..."

Kuyiza bint Zayi the Translator tells you, "Then there was that whole Elemental business... well... I wasn't able to leave my cottage because they were everywhere for a time..."

Kuyiza bint Zayi the Translator tells you, "And who would have thought that the Dericost would help us seal up the tunnels of the... oh my..."

Kuyiza stops mid sentence, rapidly finishes her transcriptions and seals the tome with wax.

Kuyiza bint Zayi the Translator tells you, "You are working for the Shadow Hunter Killcrane, yes? Quickly, take this directly to him. Don't dawdle. What is in this tome is of great import."

Showing Repaired Shadow Stone to Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist

You allow Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist to examine your Repaired Shadow Stone.

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "I've found a way to alter these stones to work with an Isparian Weapon, but I need you to get something for me first. I've managed, in my research, to locate a possible location for one of Atlan's Workshops, where he made the first weapons we based the Isparian Weapons on."

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "The portal should be at 66.9N 15.9E, along the outside of the Mt. Esper Caldera. Go there, and gather for me whatever information you can."

Handing Empyrean Notebook to Bretself the Translator

You give Bretself the Translator Empyrean Notebook.

Bretself the Translator tells you, "Hmmm... This seems to be written in some sort of Empyrean Code."

Bretself the Translator tells you, "I can translate it into recognizable characters, but I can't make heads or tails of it. Seems Atlan didn't want other people reading his notes."

You give Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist Atlan's Coded Notebook.

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Ahh, the translated tome! Wonderful!"

Ciandra examines the book intently.

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "This is going to take a bit of work, but this first part here is a magical "key" to enter Atlan's Laboratory. I'll attune you to the wards, so you can gain entrance. Go in there and see what you can find."

Ciandra chants quietly, and a soft glow infuses your skin for a moment.

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Be careful in there. If these wards are any indication, Atlan was more than capable of setting up his lab to be well defended."

Handing in Damaged Stone Infuser to Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist

You give Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist Damaged Stone Infuser.

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Perfect! This is just the tool mentioned in these notes."

Ciandra examines the Damaged Stone Infuser.

The first, you will need to bring, along with a Repaired Shadow Stone, to the Shade of Farelaith, in Northern Osteth. He can be found at 74.3N, 58.6E. The second you will need for charging the Stone Infuser. The information is all in the book."

Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "If you don't have two Decanters of Essence, my Apprentice can direct you in how to get some."

Handing in Repaired Shadow Stone to Shade of Farelaith

You give Shade of Farelaith Repaired Shadow Stone.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "You must be from the mortal, Ciandra. She sent her apprentice to ask my aid in altering these stones. I can aid you, but I will need a source of Pure Mana to do so. The act of setting these stones against their creators is draining on my spirit, and would soon end my existence without the aid of the Mana."

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "I'll hold onto this, and make the preparations to this stone. Get for me a Decanter of Essence. They hold enough power for me to complete the process."

You give Shade of Farelaith Decanter of Essence.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "Ahh, yes mortal, this will do."

Farelaith drains the decanter. Glowing slightly, he focuses his anger against the Shadows into the Repaired Shadow Stone. The last, minor flaws in the crystal disappear, and the stone now radiates a gentle warmth, where before it was cold.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "There, this should meet your needs, and be an instrument of my vengeance as well. Here"

Shade of Farelaith gives you Dormant Shadowfire Stone.

Handing in Shadowfire Stone to Shade of Farelaith (Shadownether stone)

You give Shade of Farelaith Shadowfire Stone.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "You must want this infused with Nether energies."

Purple and Black energy flows from Farelaith's hands into the stone.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "I hope this serves you well, even though I feel the art of Void Magic is a dangerous area for Isparians to meddle in."

Shade of Farelaith gives you Shadownether Stone.

Handing in Shadowfire Stone to Shade of Farelaith (Life-attuned stone)

You give Shade of Farelaith Shadowfire Stone.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "You must want this altered to attune it to life magics."

A warm glow flows from Farelaith's hands into the stone.

Shade of Farelaith tells you, "I hope this serves you well."

Shade of Farelaith gives you Life-attuned Shadowfire Stone.

Handing in Shadowfire Stone to Sarkin Killcrane

You give Sarkin Killcrane Shadowfire Stone.

Sarkin Killcrane examines the Shadowfire Stone.

Sarkin Killcrane tells you, "This will be a great aid to the Knights of the Golden Flame. I thank you for this. Allow me to give you something in return."
