* The first arc was the return of Bael'Zharon. This arc began with December 1999's Sudden Season event (Frostfell, 10 PY) and concluded with December 2000's The Child of Daralet event (Frostfell, 11 PY).

What began with a lost expedition ended up with Dereth changed forever. Foiling an undead cult's attempt to drain the warmth from the world unleashed a terrible danger upon the land. Soon, adventurers found themselves racing against time and their fellow Isparians in order to prevent an ancient evil from being released. And in the darkest of hours, only the alliance of a legendary sorcerer and three of humanity's greatest enemies could offer the hope of defeating the dreaded Hopeslayer, Bael'Zharon.
* The second arc revolved around a schism that developed within Virindi society. This arc began in January 2001's Now In This Hush event (Snowreap, 12 PY) and concluded in October 2001's The Widening Gyre event (Harvestgain, 12 PY).

The order of the Virindi is about to be threatened by a new enemy - Individuality.
* The third arc was based on Candeth Martine's unintentional release of a trapped Empyrean, Gaerlan. This arc began in October 2001's Dark Majesty expansion pack (Harvestgain, 12 PY) and concluded in September 2002's Verdict event (Thistledown, 13 PY).

* The fourth arc was the Ancient Olthoi Queen seeking revenge against Asheron. This arc began in October 2002's Festivus event (Harvestgain, 13 PY) and concluded in October 2003's Reign of Terror event (Harvestgain, 14 PY).

Theirs was a world of order, a place blessed with harmony and cursed with solitude. But one band of rogue Virindi sought to cast off the shackles of conformity and attain the power, freedome, and individuality that they believed was their due. When their rebellion crossed over into the realm of the material, Dereth was quickly caught in the middle. Adventurers were forced to contend not only with loyalist Virindi, but with rebels whose 'perfect' new world threatened to destroy theirs.
The Shattered Coil
* The fifth arc was the awakening of ancient Falatacot magic which precipitated the Burun invasion. This arc began in November 2003's Visions in the Darkness event (Leafcull, 14 PY) and concluded in November 2004's On Bended Knee event (Leafcull, 15 PY).

The War of Blood and Shadow
* The sixth arc was the Viamontian invasion on mainland Dereth, and ultimately the release of Grael. This arc began in December 2004's The Calm event (Frostfell, 15 PY), continued with July 2005's Throne of Destiny expansion pack (Leafdawning, 16 PY), and concluded in August 2006's Shattering the Dark event (Verdantine, 17 PY).

* The seventh arc was the Virindi Aerbax's plot to take over Dereth. This arc began in September 2006's Come What Follows event (Thistledown, 17 PY) and concluded in February 2008's The Beast With Many Heads event (Coldeve, 19 PY).

* The eighth arc was the awakening of the Slithis known as T'thuun. This arc began in March 2008's Foolish Ambition event (Wintersebb, 19 PY) and concluded in December 2008's Sins of the Fathers event (Frostfell, 19 PY). This marked the final single-plot, year long story arc.

Candeth Martine was torn asunder emotionally by a strange portal that carried him away from the wife and daughter he loved and physically by the Virindi looking to create a living weapon. Freed from their control, only his hatred of Asheron, the one who created the portals in the first place, gave him purpose. With the very power of portalspace at his command, Martine attempted to take his revenge on the man and the world that had cost him everything. However, he and his fellow Isparians soon found themselves at the mercy of a man whose hatred for Asheron eclipsed even Martine's--a man whose wrath would drive the very forces of nature into chaos.
