* While my initial pass of all quests is complete, the journal is still a work in progress. The Quest Journal was introduced in Gears of Change as a way for players to keep track of their quest timers. Quests are not automatically added to your journal, instead, players must write an entry for each quest. These are normally entered through the game's user interface. However, the journals are stored on the players machine (default C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Asheron's Call on Windows XP) as text files, allowing for players to edit and add to their journals outside of the game, and even copy, paste, and rename entire journals for another character.

Instructions
Your quest journals are stored as text files locally. The default location is My Documents\Asheron's Call. They follow a standard naming pattern of Journal-<Server>-<Character>.txt, e.g. Journal-Leafcull-An Adventurer.txt These files are automatically created the first time you click on the Quest Journal button in the UI, found between the Stats and Map buttons.
If you want to copy my full quest journal, click the "Full Quest Journal" above. Copy all of the code and paste it into the proper character's journal file, then save and close it. That's all.
If you are only interested in a few sections (say, you are only level 90, and are not interested in society quests yet) you can edit your journal several ways:
- Copy the full journal code on the wiki to your local journal text file. Delete unwanted pages from the text file, then save and close.
- Use the sections on the wiki for specific parts of the journal only. Copy these into your local journal text file, then save and close.
- Copy the full journal code on the wiki to your local journal text file, then save and close. Log in to that character, and delete pages using the in game system.
Future Updates
- While my initial pass of all quests is complete, the journal is still a work in progress. There are some quests that I did not add - some of them, because there is not enough info, others because I did not know how to categorize them, and others still because they have multiple timers of varying length that does not work well with the quest journal. Some of these quests include:
- Aefalle (all versions)
- Bobo (regular version)
- Gaerlan's Citadel
- Grael 0-100 & 100-150.
- Some quests are missing info, but are still in the journal. Missing info is usually the percent and cap of the exp reward, which if missing is displayed as "??% up to level ??" and a handful of quests do not have a timer listed, because the timer was not apparent in game or available on fan sites. This includes the Impious Staff, Gear Crossbow, and perhaps others.
- I want to work on notes for alternative routes to various towns, so people who wish to avoid the Town Network (like some players on DT) can easily do so.
- The Gear Knight Low area is still only partially complete. I hope to have more updates for it later.
- Most quests simply give a link to the wiki guide. Exceptions are some kill tasks and society quests, and a small handful of normal quests. I hope to get some basic guides written for some of the simpler quests, however, many of the complex quests will still just give a link to the wiki as there is not enough room and formatting ability in the journal to present a good guide.
- Society quests were the first pages I created. I want to clean them up and add in the exp, coin, and ribbon rewards for them.
