Chapter 2: Joining a Society

Why Join a Society?

Beyond any lore reasons for joining a society, being in one allows you access to Freebooter Isle, Moarsman City, the quests within each of these islands, and the Gauntlet, a new challenge found next to each society's stronghold.

Joining a Society

In order to become a member of a society you must be level 180+ as well as have completed the introduction quest for each society (You only need to complete the quest that matches your desired society). Regardless of the Society you wish to join, you must speak to Jondor Torgren (Zaikhal.at 13.6N 0.7E) then head to the Graveyard.I will outline each quest below:

Celestial Hand

Take the West exit out of Lower GY and speak to Candrus Steady-Hand at 65.8s 45.3w. You will need to kill 8 Blight Spirits in the darkened landscape to the west. Speak with him again when you're finished to receive a letter. Take this letter to Joku Shunja at 60.1S 88.0W in Ayan Baqur for a book. You will need to give this book to Jondor to complete this quest.

Radiant Blood

Jawaq ibn Janath at 65.3S 42.3W (East exit out of Lower GY) will task you with bringing him the head of the Blight Lictor who resides amongst Blight Revenants in a pit to the South; he will reward you with an introduction letter to bring to Vierana du Canamorra at 60.0S 87.8W in Ayan Baqur in exchange for a book. Bring this book to Jondor to complete this quest.

Eldrytch Web

Kousu Temo at 64.2S 44.0W (North exit out of Upper GY) will send you on a task taking place in the Blight Rat Crypt at 64.0S 44.2W. Kill the Large Blight Rat (From the top, take a right then stick left) and take the key from its corpse to unlock the Blight Rat Chest inside the crypt (From the drop, take a left then stick left. This chest can be picked open.) and retrieve the Scepter of Menilesh for Kousu Temo who will reward you with an introduction letter to bring to Qurakh al-Taal at 59.9S 87.9W in Ayan Baqur in exchange for a book. Bring this book to Jondor to complete this quest.

Though not required, if you'd like to learn more about the philosophies of the societies without joining them, you can do this quest:

Memories of Menlish - 150+ http://perfectlight.aforumfree.com/helms-f20/memories-of-menilesh-t70.htm

Initiate's Test - 180+

Now to actually join a society. Depending on the one you wish to join, you will need to speak to their representatives to begin this quest:

• Kirina of the Celestial Hand - 39.7s 83.6e - Hebian-To
• Ayesha of the Radiant Blood -12.8n 0.7e - Zaikhal
• Arturus of the Eldrytch Web - 26.3n 49.6e - Cragstone

This will flag you for the Initiate Test. Head to Sawato and run to the Corrupted Catacombs dungeon at 23.9s 54.1e. From the drop, stick Right until you see your first Blighted Ardent Moarsman then stick Left until you get two ramps, both leading down Eastward, take the right-hand one and stick left down the tunnel and follow the left-side until you reach another down ramp. You'll now stick to the right side through the tunnels and when the tunnels open up into a larger room you'll find the Slimy Key to the Southeast.

From the Slimy Key, face the South and follow the left-side wall until you find a Sclavus. From here, stick right to get to a Locked Door that the key unlocks (can be picked). Use the Corrupted Mana Shard to obtain one (it expires in 60 minutes from when it enters your pack) and return it to the representative that flagged you. Congratulations! You are now a member of a society and will receive an Initiate's Handbook detailing some aspects of being a member. You can also now use the portal behind each representative to enter that society's stronghold. If you lose your book and want another, the representative will hand you a new one.

Before I continue, if for some reason you'd like to switch societies then you will need 100 MMD's. Speak to Gaston Shadowbound in Ayan Baqur's Pub at 59.7s 88.0w. Give him the MMD's to cut all ties to your society. Some warnings:

1 - When you join a new society, you will start over as an Initiate
2 - Any task timers you have will not be erased, meaning you'll have to wait out the 20 hour timer if you just did the tasks.
3 - Society Tokens that you earn through doing Society Tasks cannot be exchanged for new ones of your new society.
4 - Society Ribbons that you earn through doing Society Tasks can be exchanged for new ones by handing them to the Commendations Officer in the South section of the stronghold.
5 - You no longer be able to wear any pieces of Society Armour that you've obtained belonging to your old society.
6 - The timer is 29 days on switching societies.
