Hey there Sanddh, my name is Doug and I'm a member of Wikia's Community Development Team! Wikia is creating an exciting Key Moments of MMO History video that will showcase several amazing games of the genre. We're looking for admins of MMO wikis who would be interested in submitting a short vocal narration about their game of choice.

We want to ask you the question What is the most important moment in Asheron's Call History?

Hey Sanddh. I saw that on the Ghere entry, you've used CoD as a reference. A couple things:
If you're interested, please record an MP3 voice narration of your answer, a few sentences  to a small paragraph is fine. If you have no recording software and are still interested, we can schedule a Skype call to record! Please send the finished recording to doug@wikia-inc.com and you'll be featured in the video to represent your community! Thank you and have a good one! 1)<br />
While I wasn't very clear on it in the Creating and Editing Lore Articles, fan site lore articles like that should really only be used as a basis for research, and not as a reference. To clarify, from Creating and Editing Lore Articles:

:Acceptable Sources > Articles should only be based on official canon. This would include in-game sources, such as texts, item descriptions, and NPC/creature dialog.

:Construction of the Article > Don't trust everything you read on other fan sites. While the information available on various other fan sites can be quite valuable in researching a topic, it may not be the most accurate. Very few articles give any sources for their information, making it hard to separate the facts from the embellishments of the author. Most other fan sites are also quite inactive, and even the most well researched and documented piece may be out-of-date.

That doesn't mean everything on CoD/Maggies/ACvault cannot be used as a reference, though. For example, their coverage of live events, dev interviews, and other official sources can be used. Its just that we can't trust their lore articles as being any more than well written fan fiction, since they do not cite sources.

2)<br />
CoD's content is not missing. The site was restructured, but unfortunately there is no staff to fix all the broken links. I made a post about it on the CoD forums here. Specifically, the link you used, http://www.warcry.com/db/encyclopedia/97, still exists at its new location of http://www.warcry.com/ac/apps/db/encyclopedia/97.

Bael'Zharon in Lore articles
Hey :) I saw that you have used links to the Bael'Zharon article in Kerenth Portenaer and I am assuming other character articles. This is one of the things I have wanted to clean up, but have not had time to do so. As Stormwaltz said in an interview once, "Bael'Zharon was just a title given to Ilservian Palacost. I felt Isin Dule should be the next to hold it." - Asherons Call: 4 Years of AC and Counting, Part 2 - L'etoile, Part 2. Which means the title is not specific to him.
<br /><br />
Basically, the character information related to BZ should be placed on the Ilservian Palacost, and when linking to BZ in other lore articles, that is the article that should be used. You can give it the alias of Bael'Zharon, but Ilservian Palacost is the correct lore article. The actual Bael'Zharon article should be a disambiguation page, with links to Ilservian Palacost and the various forms of BZ that have appeared in game, similar to the Borelean, Lord Rytheran, or Lady Aerfalle pages. I've just been too busy to get around to cleaning this up.

Wujin Shadowblade
Hey, saw you made an entry for Wujin Shadowblade.

This character is from a piece of fan fiction, and should not have an entry. The Zone had a section called Player Chronicles, where the articles The Hand of Jojii and Cold Derethian Sun came from. As it says on player chronicles, "Be advised that all Player Chronicles articles represent only the views of their creators and may not accurately reflect the game or its official backstory." So, just keep in mind when making character pages to only use official sources. Thanks :)

And thanks for all the work on lore characters and articles. Nice to see someone else around here interested in that stuff :)

Who were you on Wintersebb?
Hi, I played on Wintersebb for a long time. My characters' names are on my userpage. Who were you?

Anyway, in order for all users to keep in touch more often, does this Wiki have a fanpage on Facebook? I hope to get back into AC someday, especially if we have mounts and remodelable houses by now! (hopefully we do!) --ENG 13:39, 6 December 2011 (EST)

there's some mistakes on the patterns. pattern 3 can be deleted, it is the same as 2, except it is facing north vs facing east.

the other 2 are:
*santa, box, globe, box
*stick, head, elf, stick
*elf, balloon, globe, ball
*balloon, head, box, ball

and

*stick, head, globe, head
*balloon, box, santa, elf
*elf, globe, baloon, santa
*ball, stick box, ball

Creature Class/Creature Page Discussion

I've proposed some changes/improvements to the creature class template and the creature page. Please see the discussion at Talk:Creatures#Feb 2010 Updates. --An Adventurer 17:39, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Heya, I noticed that you're doing the points of interest map. I think some of those you haven't done may already be on the Wiki. So far I noticed that these seem to have been done twice: 9.3N, 63.7E - Banderling Tower and 63.0N, 8.1W - Standing Stone. -Ash --Tiger1986 12:23, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

The Dyed Variations template has been updated to check for images and the existing dyed image files renamed to conform to the plant name format. I added it to the armor template so now that it will automatically update as images are added we can add it to any item that is dyeable. It's a really great template. --Tlosk 13:06, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

The Food template's looking good, there's a Template:Sold By that is worded to work for one or more vendors.--Tlosk 08:10, 16 April 2009 (CDT)

Hey, I created the Renegade Living Weapons (Quest) page. Use that for the upgrade to the Palenqual's Living Weapons. I'll just put some stub information in there now, and then you can fill it in. --Atarax 00:17, 12 March 2009 (CDT)

Hey bro, one more standardization tip. If you are adding a Stats Panel image to the page, it should just be named Creature Name.jpg, and it should go on the Discussion Tab of the page. I edited the Reeshan‎ page for an example of where to place the image. Sorry to be a nag, thanks for all the good work :) --Atarax 23:54, 23 January 2009 (CST)

Hey Sanddh, your updates kick ass man keep it up! One suggestion though. When uploading images, it would be great if you could start using the "standard" wiki sizes, like 200x300, 300x300 and 300x400. This makes it much easier for people with smaller screen sizes to get see the page without much distortion, plus it keeps a uniform look throughout the wiki. If you don't use the Wiki Swiss Tool already, check it out. Its a great tool for easily cropping images to the standard formats with almost zero effort. Let me know if you have questions! --Atarax 13:28, 17 January 2009 (CST)

Just wanted to let you know that we have a new Quest Guide Template, so if you can start using that when creating/updating quests like the Gelidite Library (Quest)‎ it will make it easier down the road. See the Mukkir Aspect of Grael writeup for an example. Thanks again for all the hard work! --Atarax 18:48, 11 January 2009 (CST)

Thank you for all your contributions. Could you begin to use the current templates for items such as armor and trophies, and the updated table for quest entries? It will be less work if we do not have to go back and update them later. You can find these templates on the Page Templates page, listed under help on the side nav bar. Thank you. --An Adventurer 15:57, 3 November 2008 (CST)

If you want to continue using the tool, all of the templates are saved as individual text files in the Templates folder, just open with a text editor like notepad and replace the text with what you want to use then it will give you that instead when you use the tool (the program just grabs whatever's in the text files when it starts or when you click the Reload button). A lot of the templates have been updated since the last release and I'll be updating the included templates in the next release (working on getting all the VIII spells in now). --Tlosk 16:45, 3 November 2008 (CST)

The short answer is templates as a group are still a work in progress, some templates like those for Creatures and Weapons/Armor have gotten lots of attention and probably won't change much in the future. Other templates, like for food for example, don't yet have a template examplar and have been pretty much whatever the person posting wants to do. That's not to say we shouldn't have one, just that no one's made an exemplar and there hasn't been a discussion on what to include or not include. An Adventurer has done the most work on working up template exemplars. Some things, like in game shots you asked about are just an oversight and haven't been added to the template examples yet. And it's only fairly recently that we moved from a table format for most in game items to one that mirrors the in game ID panel with a bulleted notes section, so a lot of the older entries need to be reformatted.

There are a lot more people making significant contributions so it would be helpful if we can nail down most of the templates we might use so I'm going to move a copy of your question and these comments here and over the next few days you can help us make sure we got everything in the templates section that we might use in posting content (and then I can have a fully updated set of templates to include with the next wiki tool release).

To add more categories or change existing ones, go the folder containing the program and open Wiki Swiss Tool.ini with a text editor like Notepad. At the bottom are sections for each of the template buttons. Say you want to add a template for Key to the last button (20th counting from the start, left to right) here are the steps:

 1. Create a text file named Key.txt (can name it anything you want) and put it the Templates folder.
 2. Find the section headed [Template20] and change the first line to Path=Default Key.txt
 3. Change the color of the key if you want, use a six value hex RGB, see Color Chart#RGB Components.
 4. Change the name line, Name=Key
 5. The AlternatePath line is for if you want a different template to be accessed when you right click the button. For example you could make another text file with the template for Containers, save it as Container.txt in the Templates folder, then change the line to AlternatePath=Default Container.txt

Hi, you've been added to the sysops group because of the quantity and quality of your submissions. It makes a few things a little easier, like allowing you to make deletions, add external links without recaptchas, and to block users if you see vandalism. Additional tools are available at the bottom of Special:Special Pages. Thanks for all the hard work. --Tlosk 13:17, 8 December 2008 (CST)

Thanks for your edits to Halls of Metos, especially in the General section. I think commenting about a dungeon's history makes the Wiki more interesting.
