I believe the patch pages are still there somewhere, although, most of those were already broken ''before'' the more recent redesign.

Forum:Using old, archived screenshots on the Wiki

I just wondered if there were any issues with using screenshots from archived websites (CoD for example has some interesting images that don't seem available on Warcry), on the Wiki. I know that there is the drop down box when uploading images here, which specifies screenshots as being fair use, but how about screenshots I didn't take? Do I need get permission somehow, or can I just make notes on the page as a reference?

I ask because I thought it would be nice to have some for the live event pages here.

There was some contention between ACV and COD when they were using screenshots that i took for acvault's patch tree one month. All i know is that they were taken down after things were settled between warcry and ign. Could potentially be an issue. Doh, I've just noticed that it was an archived page for ACVault that I found the screenshots and not CoD.

The page is actually found on the Vault's current site, but when you try to access it it gives the message "You don't have permission to access /archive/features/specials/ on this server."

Here is the archived page: http://replay.web.archive.org/20010424143147/http://acvault.ign.com/features/specials/ Do you think these are ok to use?

They don't seem to have much of a staff over there now; all of their old patch trees and classic event pages have vanished since the change to Warcry...shame. --Ash (Arkalor) 07:07, 29 April 2011 (EST)

While I'm sure there is some stuff missing from CoD, most of it is still there, its just that links were not updated. From my post on CoD's message boards:

The site has been redesigned recently. The site went from http://ac.warcry.com/ to http://www.warcry.com/codex/ac/, and it seems like all sub-pages have been restructured. For example, http://www.warcry.com/content/ac/lore moved to http://www.warcry.com/codex/ac/lore/ http://ac.warcry.com/db/ moved to http://www.warcry.com/ac/apps/db/ etc.

I believe the patch pages are still there somewhere, although, most of those were already broken before the more recent redesign.
