When a piece of armor or item of clothing is dyeable, it can have its color altered through [[Dyeing]]. There is no limit to the number of times an item can be dyed, however each time a dye attempt is made, there is a small chance it can fail based on the cooking skill of the dyer. A minor failure will cause a loss of 20 AL, a critical failure a loss of 50 AL. All failures result in discoloration, for metal based armor the piece will turn orange, and cloth and hide based armor will turn pink. A failed item can still be dyed the intended color, however the loss of AL is permanent.
