Peace Mode
Peace mode is the state you're in when the dove button is shown on the interface and you're not in a combat stance. In this mode you can perform Secure Trades, carry out all Crafting actions and heal yourself more successfully. You click the dove to go into combat mode and bring up the corresponding combat panel depending on which type of weapon you're wielding.
Modes of Combat
Melee Mode
This mode is active when you're wielding a melee weapon such as a Sword. The melee combat bar has a slider for changing the speed versus power. The high, medium and low buttons refer to the attack height.

Missile Mode
This mode is active when you're wielding a missile weapon such as an Atlatl. The missile combat bar is exactly the same as the melee bar except the slider now controls speed versus accuracy instead of power.

Spell Casting Mode
Spell casting mode is active when you're wielding any Magic Caster (also known as a casting device). This mode consists of the 8 spell bar tabs for holding spells from your spell book and the cast button to cast the selected spell on the target. Many casting devices have a built in spell which is found to the left of the spell bar. The first 9 spells in any tab are numbered which can be quickly cast using the keyboard.

Spell Tabs
You can switch tabs by clicking on them, or by pressing the <insert> and <page up> keys to cycle through the eight tabs. These are the same keys used to increase / decrease attack power / accuracy in the other combat panels.
- Also:
- CTRL + Prev Tab = First Tab
- CTRL + Next Tab = Last Tab
Spells
You can switch spells by clicking on them, or by pressing the <delete> and <page down> keys to cycle through them. These are the same keys used to switch between low attack / medium attack / high attack in the other combat panels.
- Also:
- CTRL + Prev Spell = First Spell in List
- CTRL + Next Spell = Last Spell in List
Charge Attacks
When a player executes a melee attack, they first move towards their target until they are within range to attack. This movement is a charge–it is much faster than the character's normal movement rate, but because of that speed it can only be sustained for a very short distance. If, at the end of the charge, the player is still too far away from their target to attack, they will stop the attack and see the message, "You have charged too far!"
Damage
Rating
Main article: Rating
Rating is a modifier to incoming and outgoing damage. There are also rating modifiers for healing, mana consumption, mana charging and aetheria surging.
Variance
Main article: Variance
Variance is the difference between top end and low end damage on a melee weapon. Weapons spawn with a top end damage, and the low end is calculated using the variance. One handed melee weapons spawn with one of 5 variances, Two Handed weapons spawn with one of 6 variances.
Combat skills
There are three main types of combat skill.
Primary combat skills
Skills that are used to inflict damage on the target.
Secondary combat skills
Skills that work with the primary combat skills to provide useful effects and/or improve their damage output.
