  • Turn in to Fanzen San the Translator for 3 free points of Magic Defense. Although you can turn in the scroll multiple times, you will only receive the +3 points in Magic Defense on the first turn-in. On subsequent turn-ins you'll receive a max of 10K xp, so it is recommended that you only turn this item in once per character and that you use it for the last 3 points of Magic Defense, i.e. turn in when Magic Defense is 3 points from max. Specialized Magic Defense will yield more overall xp than trained. If you are maxed or less than 3 points shy, use the Temple of Forgetfulness to drop the xp and then reraise to 3 points less than max.
You give Fanzen San the Translator Scroll of Dark Rain.
Fanzen San looks over the scroll, with a concerned look on his face.
Fanzen San the Translator tells you, "This is a scroll detailing how to summon a creature known as a Dark Inferno, a shadow twisted manifestation of the element of fire. It is good that you brought this to me, for I fear the repercussions were someone else to retrieve it. You are a stalwart adventurer, so I will share some of the knowledge imparted upon me by some of the translated Falatacot texts I have discovered."
He traces a glyph in the air, and you feel light-headed.
