Sorry about the confusion, I updated your status to Admin here. If you come across anything that doesn't work as you think it should just let me know. Thanks. --{{User:Tlosk/Sig}} 09:32, 13 October 2010 (EST)
Hi,

I needed to let you know a technical quirk about editing templates for the future, anytime a change is made to a widely used template like {{tl|Intro}}, the mediawiki software adds a task to the job cue to update every page that uses the template. As a consequence if a bunch of edits are quickly made to a widely used template it can add hundreds of thousands of tasks to the job cue, many of them redundant or outdated.

Since we do need to edit heavily used templates from time to time, the way to minimize the effect is to first test the changes using {{tl|Sandbox}}. You just copy the entire code for the page of the template you want to change into the sandbox page ([[:Template:Sandbox]]) and then test the effect of the changes on another page by referring to it as Sandbox instead of Intro of whatever the name of the real template is. Once you're satisfied with your changes you can copy the sandbox code back into the real template page, that way there's only a single edit to load into the job cue.

Thanks.

Hi,

I needed to let you know a technical quirk about editing templates for the future, anytime a change is made to a widely used template like {{Intro}}, the mediawiki software adds a task to the job cue to update every page that uses the template. As a consequence if a bunch of edits are quickly made to a widely used template it can add hundreds of thousands of tasks to the job cue, many of them redundant or outdated.

Since we do need to edit heavily used templates from time to time, the way to minimize the effect is to first test the changes using {{Sandbox}}. You just copy the entire code for the page of the template you want to change into the sandbox page (Template:Sandbox) and then test the effect of the changes on another page by referring to it as Sandbox instead of Intro of whatever the name of the real template is. Once you're satisfied with your changes you can copy the sandbox code back into the real template page, that way there's only a single edit to load into the job cue.

Thanks.
