Quest Overview
This is the quest to open your Aetheria slots for the first time. For the creation and use of Aetheria see the main article. See this video for an insight into Aetheria: http://youtu.be/dTqDAFNPixM
Walk Through
- Speak to Cypher the Apprentice at 41.8S 15.8E in Xarabydun. He will give you an Aligned Mana Stone.
- Travel to the Empyrean Facility Upper Level 46.2S, 71.8W, the portal is tiable and summonable.
- Route: Short run from the VoD lifestone (take the Obsidian Rim portal at Caul drop or after Aerfalle drop portal).
- The dungeon is divided into three levels. Your task on each level is the same, only the creatures differ. TIP: If the masonry golems prove too difficult to deal with, lure them to the pits to get them off of you.
- You start in a large room that has five smaller rooms with doors on all sides placed within the larger room. One in the middle and ones to the north, east, west, and south. Enter each of the side rooms, one by one, and kill the four wisps that are present inside the rooms. Once they are dead, walk to the middle of each room to the colored mana fountains inside each one. Use the Aligned Mana Stone and you should get the message,
- Mana flows across the surface of the stone.
- Your fingers tingle as waves of energy coruscate across them and up your arms.
- A shiver moves across your body up into your chest and quickly down through your feet.
- Note 1: If you have already completed this room (and killed the four wisps on a previous visit), the third line of the message will say,
- You feel no change.
- Note 2: If you don't get the message, make sure all spawn are dead (they can get pulled out of the room if there are other players in the dungeon). Wait another 15 seconds or so after your first attempt, then try again (for some reason, the first attempt often fails, even if the spawn was killed correctly). If it still doesn't work, you need to find and kill the spawn, which has probably wandered outside the room, and then return to the room to retry using the Aligned Mana Stone. Wisps often get stuck in the pits when accidentally dragged outside their rooms; check there first.
- Once you've gotten the message in the north, south, east and west rooms, go to the middle room and stand in the mana fountain next to the portal (be careful not to accidentally go in! You will not be able to portal recall back to the previous level, and must re-enter the dungeon from the surface portal (if level 225+ only) or via your hard tie if you got it earlier).
- On the upper level, using your Aligned Mana Stone at the final mana fountain opens the 75+ blue slot (next to your head on your paper doll inventory) and gives you the Aetheria Mana Stone and you should recieve the message below. This is a permanent tool you hang onto and you use it on any Coalesced Aetheria you find as creature loot or in chests to cause a random sigil to appear (ID to see what Set and Surge the revealed Aetheria possesses).
- Mana flows across the surface of the stone.
- Your fingers tingle as waves of energy coruscate across them and up your arms.
- A shiver moves across your body up into your chest and quickly down through your feet.
- You feel a sense of completion as your aura aligns with that of the world around you.
- You feel the stone in your hand start to resonate.
- The edge of the stone becomes blurry.
- Your vision seems to double as you begin to see two distinct stones.
- Aetheria Mana Field gives you Aetheria Mana Stone.
- The vibrations stop and you find yourself holding two stones.
- Take the Middle portal and repeat the same sequence described above, this will open the 150+ yellow slot.
- Take the Lower level portal (note a hot landing) and repeat, this will open the 225+ red slot. Once all three slots are opened you are done.
See Aetheria for more details on Aetheria creation and use.

150+ Aetheria slot opening quest, outer room. These wisps seem fairly harmless. They are weak to bludgeon and pierce but not to slash.
Lore & Dialog
Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "With our research into the Menhir Mana Fields we've been able to triangulate the source of the altered mana signatures."
Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "This source appears to be the home to an ancient Empyrean facility used to strengthen their connections with the world's mana flow."
Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "Our use of magics without understanding the proper connection to the ley lines and Dereth has left each of our personal mana fields in disarray."
Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "Research indicates that the only way to access the power of Aetheria, as we believe the ancient Empyreans did, is to align your mana field with that of the world."
Cypher the Apprentice gives you Aligned Mana Stone.
Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "This device is used to form a conduit between yourself and certain pure mana fields. Other mana drawing creatures in the area of a mana field will prevent purity."

Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "You will need to align yourself with the mana flow of each floor first and then the central mana field of that floor."
Cypher the Apprentice tells you, "The entrance of the facility can be located at 46.2S, 71.8W where recent exploration exposed a previously inert portal."
