Book of Eibhil

A mysterious tome of great power last known to be in the possession of the the dark mage Rytheran who used it in causing harm to the Mhoires entombed in Graveyard.

I used the book. It was not my idea, not at first. His Eternal Splendor simply wished to visit unique and eternal torments upon the Mhoires and in particular on that troublesome jester who served them. As a leader of the Winds from Darkness, it seemed an irresistible opportunity to me, to grasp true world-altering power and to feel it bend to my will. So I agreed to open a single page of the Book of Eibhil and use the terrible power contained with its maddening runes to inflict eternal torment upon the enemies of my eternal King. I confess that I saw an opportunity to grasp more power for myself, as well. I was so caught up in the possibilities, I was blinded, as I rarely am, to the consequences. -- Excerpt from Lord Rytheran's Journal.

The current whereabouts of the Book of Eibhil are unknown, although some clues have been given.

Danira the Dusty tells you, "Go search the crypts in that graveyard, and try to find Rytheran's lordly seal that will allow you into his Library. Enter the library through the gate near the Mage Academy and search for books. It may be too much to ask that the Book of Eibhil is still in there, but perhaps some journal of Rytheran's would help illuminate the trail to that terrifying artifact. In any case, please bring me whatever books you may find in there."

A search of Lord Rytheran's Private Sanctum reveals that the lectern that once guarded the tome is now empty:

The lectern pulses with a malign intelligence as you touch it, and it almost feels like it is examining you... Suddenly, a discordant shriek echoes in your mind, and the pedestal makes its displeasure known. Master's Lectern tells you, "Thief! Impostor! Master has already removed the Book of Eibhil!"

Asheron's Call II Lore Relating to the Book of Eibhil:

In one of AC2's story arcs a group of undead called the Archons of the Way steal the book of Eibhil from Geraine and try to use it to supplant him. The book takes them over and attempts to destroy the world. Geraine stops them and meets the physical manifestation of the book, a Falatacot witch named Eibhil. However, Eibhil is not actually the author of the book. Geraine kills Eibhil and vows to author his own book not merely use another's.
