Quest Overview

You need lockpick to complete this quest.
It comes in handy if someone bugs the doors when one of the party is doing the lockpick and lever parts.
There are several stamina blight, mana blight and dispell traps in the dungeon.

Walk Through

  1. Travel to Ithaenc Cathedral on the Vesayen Islands. The Invitation Ithanc Cathedral drops you close if you do not have the recall.
  2. Go up the stairs one stock, up the ramps. Tab jump into the window, or onto the ledge (if your jump is high, and you target the window, you might just jump out of the window on the other side of the bedroom).
  3. Go outside on the balcony. Stand in front of the portal to Catacombs of Ithaenc and do a shift jump into the portal.
  4. Once inside, go down 1 level. There are two doors, to the S and the N one. Leave at least one person at the S door to bug it if necessary. The rest of the party, except the lockpicker, can gather in front of the N door.
  5. The lockpicker has to go all the way down (the dungeon is rather circular, with ramps further down on the other side). Best is to hang left to avoid traps.
  6. On the lowest level, there is a locked door (diff 322). Pick it, and pull the lever in a room at the end of the corridor.
  7. The lockpicker can now join the rest of the party, the S door on the first level should have opened.
  8. One person should go through the S door (watch the dispell trap at the T), and down a ramp into a room, where two levers are situated in a smaller room in the middle.
  9. Pulling the East level opens the door to the N.
  10. Clean the spawn in this room, and anyone dispelled can rebuff.
  11. Go down another ramp, and there will be a locked door (diff 322) before a pit.
  12. Pick the lock and jump down.
  13. The Ancient Key can be found on the corpse of one of the Putrid Moarsman. It drops one per kill, and the respawn is quite slow.
  14. When everyone has a key, you can use the surface portal which dumps you on the balcony of Ithaenc Cathedral.
  15. Go back into the bedroom, and use your key on the Mistress' Chest. Note: the key is no-give, but the chest is accessible for anyone when opened, so one person can open it, and another person loot.
  16. Loot the Healer's Heart, the Scroll of Sanctuary Recall (level III item spell), and optional/lore the Tear-Stained Parchment and the Damp Scroll
  17. The Parchment and the Scroll can be given to Bretself the Translator for translation.
