Unexpected Behavior

Youtube videos no longer embedded

Example: AC2:Episode Videos. All the text is still on the page, but they do not display anymore. Looks like there is a new "Insert Videos" button that may work instead. --An Adventurer 18:54, September 27, 2009 (UTC) EDIT: looks like youtube videos cannot be embedded anymore? The youtube embed format is different in wikia than it was in the original AC.INFO site, now you must use "<youtube>###</youtube> format. I haven't found any documentation on sizing yet though. A conversion script would be necessary to catch all the broken links... if this isn't feasable, I can always develop a simple client-side script that can automatically fix youtube embeds a single page at a time, but of course that'd be tedious. How To Embed a YouTube Video has been updated to reflect the new syntax. I've changed most uses but will do a more thorough search later today. Also other video services are supported as well as resizing, full details can be found at Help:YouTube extension.--Tlosk 09:57, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Auto Increments

Looks like #expr:AUTOINCREMENT is not functioning on the creature pages, and probably elsewhere. Ex: Gear Knight. --Immortalbob 13:21, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Edit counts on Related Links page

The edit counts do not display correctly on the Related Links page. Looks like #ec:<user> no longer displays edit counts. Not sure if this is an issue with {{Contributions}} and {{Contributions Large}} or if it has to do with the wikia software displaying edit counts differently. --An Adventurer 17:04, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Wikia uses a different function so I updated the templates, it did display counts for some people, but not everyone, I'm working to get that resolved (I removed it all together for the moment and will put it back once it's working). --Tlosk 16:51, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Image Galleries

Various image galleries are not displaying correctly, for me anyway. This can be seen at http://asheron.wikia.com/wiki/Artwork, http://asheron.wikia.com/wiki/Hieromancers'_Halls#Images, and http://asheron.wikia.com/wiki/Yalain#Art_.26_Images among other places. An odd behavior I noticed is that while the File:Yalain Imperial Seal.jpg does not display on the gallery, I can create a link like this or enter http://asheron.info/~asheron/index.php/File:Yalain_Imperial_Seal.jpg and the image does display. --An Adventurer 16:35, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

This appears to be an issue for any image that is resized smaller and for thumbnails. I haven't found any image that won't display as itself, but no resizings I have seen so far display (some are entirely blank, some have a placeholder). There is more than one way for Mediawiki to generate new images (whenever an image is resized Mediawiki creates a new image of that size and saves it to the Thumbs directory so that in the future it can refer to the new image file rather than generate it every time a page is rendered. I imagine there's a conflict between the old and new settings (or the way the directory is structured) that is causing this. --Tlosk 17:13, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Look with MonoBook skin

When switching to the default wikipedia skin, there seems to be 125 extra pixels at the right side of all articles, and all pages are framed or boxed. --An Adventurer 16:46, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Sidebar

The sidebar (links on the left side) will need customization once the site is live, so the current appearance both in Monaco and Monobook isn't how it will be later. --Tlosk 17:05, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Page Views

Special:Mostvisitedpages counts aren't merged with previous counts. --Tlosk 10:33, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Create Page Link Missing

Previously if you entered a term into the search box and hit go or search, and the page didn't exist yet, it would give you a create page link. This link was missing. I was able to get it back by modifying MediaWiki:Searchsubtitle to include: You can [[:$1|create this page]]. --Tlosk 12:29, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Missing Content

User Contributions

This is a minor issue that doesn't effect anything as far as I can see. Some (all?) files do not have the correct user listed in the file history. An example: File:Yalain Imperial Seal.jpg lists ASHERON-Gouru under "user" even though I was the one that uploaded it. If however, you go to the Revision history of "File:Yalain Imperial Seal.jpg" ( http://asheron.wikia.com/index.php?title=File:Yalain_Imperial_Seal.jpg&action=history ) it does correctly list me as the uploader. Like I said, its a minor issue and probably has no impact on anything, but it is an unexpected behavior. --An Adventurer 17:04, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Some users contributions were switched with other user's names. This problem was traced to an error in the script Wikia used to merge the user databases. Most of them have been resolved however there are still a few, I am tracking these down now and they should be fixed within a few days.--Tlosk 15:38, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

The problem is more widespread than I had initially believed, also there are some many-to-one mismatches where several contributors have had their edits assigned to a single user. Wikia is working on this and I will post as soon as I have any more information. --Tlosk 19:01, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

I have also noticed something that maybe related to this. When I upload higher quality icons for some items, it doesn't appear to want to use the new version. Most of my files are now credited by ASHERON-Mba. Can you guys see the difference between these two icons? --Tiger1986 08:56, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

I only see one file. As for the name, yes that is helpful as your contribution history shows the edit while the page itself does not reflect the correction. I'll be sure to check that the corrections get propogated all the way down.

Site Performance

• New site doesn't seem to be as quick as our previous site - more delays and timeouts. It would be nice if the host provided more resources to speed it up. I've lost some work due to page timeout and will have to remember to always copy the page before previewing it. --Dr Doom HG 18:33, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

• Images appear to be cached on the server, so when uploading a new image it stays as the old image and won't refresh to the new (even with an Alt-F5). Wikia adjusts the width-and-height proportions to the new image, but the server doesn't actually serve-up the new image.   • I had this exact problem with newer icons, I uploaded the newer icons a second time today and now the old ones appear ok (very annoying), but atleast they show up now. --Tiger1986 16:53, September 30, 2009 (UTC)
