The Examine Target Panel displays information when appraising Items or assessing Creatures, NPCs and Player Characters.
Appraisal
This is the panel that appears when you examine things such as weapons, armor, clothing, jewelry and any other types of item. Your success at appraising items used to be based on the level of your appraisal skills but since the skills were replaced, anyone can appraise any type of item.
Most types of Item
The following information can appear on most items - be it weapons, armor or jewelry.
- The item's value and burden (weight) at the top of the panel.
- The item's description.
- Special Properties such as Attuned, Bonded and Ivoryable.
- List of spells the item has and can be used when activated.
- Any activation requirements the item has such as Arcane Lore.
- Note: This is different from wield requirements in that buffed skills count towards the your ability to activate it whereas with wield reqs they do not. In a similiar vein, Vitae also does not affect your ability to wield an item.
- And the item's magical stats which includes: Spellcraft, max. Mana and the rate at which you use it per no. of seconds.
- Whether the item can be sold; an item is sellable unless it has the "This item cannot be sold" line at the bottom of the panel.
Armor and Clothing
The following information appears only on armor, clothing, cloaks and aetheria.
- Whether it's part of an Item Set (bonuses from wielding multiple pieces) such as the Hearty Set.
- Special Properties such as Dyeable.
- The armor level (AL) of the armor. Clothing doesn't have AL until buffed.
- The item's AL for the other types of damage it can protect against.
- The coverage or how many equipment slots the piece covers.
- Any base wield requirements the item might have such as level requirement.
Weapons
The following information appears only on weapons.
- Special Properties that affect damage such as Critical Strike and Armor Rending.
- The damage/damage bonus, damage modifier (missile weapons), element and speed of the weapon. See Variance for more information on melee weapon damage.
- Modifiers that give bonuses to the wielder's various skills. The types of bonus include: attack skill, melee defense, magic defense, missile defense, PVP (magic casters), PvM (magic casters), and mana conversion (magic casters).
- Any base wield requirements the item might have such as level and/or weapon requirements.
