Martine's Retreat
During the Repercussions event, Martine's "son", Dranith Manacet, was killed by players in the Convergent Median dungeon. Upon his death, a portal to Martine's Retreat opened within Rithwic.
Martine was found in the throne room of his retreat along with two characters, Ambrosia Roe and Hibdin Velos. Each of them was seeking to influence Martine's next move by asking you to retrieve items from the retreat to give to him.
Hibdin Velos asked people to head into Martine's Study within the Retreat and fetch his letter to his wife from Ispar, Melanay.
Ambrosia Roe, seemingly under control by Gaerlan, was urging people to bring the Tusker Husk from the Study to Martine instead.
Players were given a choice, the result of which would have an influence on the storyline:
Handing Martine the Letter for Melanay
Giving him the letter strikes a chord with Martine's remaining human side and ultimately makes him help the Isparians. He also handed out Gaerlan's Field Reports.
Handing Martine the Tusker Husk
The Husk on the other hand would remind him of his hatred for the Virindi and the humans who betrayed him - thus no help would be given.
Fortunately, enough people handed him the letter and helped convince Martine to assist the Isparians, first with the destruction of the Elemental Cisterns and then later on with the downfall of Gaerlan's Citadel.
