Lore & Dialog

Soldier tells you, "You seek Commander Kurth? He has been gone for some time. You'll want to speak with Lieutenant Commander Margyle. The Renegades are tunneling beneath the fort. There's a force of men down below to deal with the creatures before they can break through the earth. You can find the entrance to the pit just southwest of here. It's still on the plateau, though."

Arwyth Margyle tells you, "I have assumed command with the absence of Commander Kurth. Speak quickly if you have business - we have a war of our own to fight around here."

Jin Ghao tells you, "You! If you would do your Queen a service, I bid you listen to me."
Jin Ghao tells you, "Our forces have spotted several Viamontian Knights in the area around Fort Tethana. When attacked, they quickly fled into the hills. We have sent emissaries to Teth in the hopes that they might shed some light on this situation, but our emissaries have not exactly been met with the warmest of receptions."
Jin Ghao tells you, "I do not like this situation. There is something about it that fills me with dread. Go to Teth. Scout the hills north of Teth. If you find anything of note, report back to me."

Your killing blow nearly turns Viamontian Man-at-Arms inside-out!
Viamontian Man-at-Arms falls to his knees, stricken by the power of [Character Name]'s blow. As he falls, you notice a small bit of parchment peeking out from the confines of his pack.

You allow Arwyth Margyle to examine your Tethana's Response.
Arwyth Margyle tells you, "I have no regrets towards sending this letter. These are dark days for Fort Tethana. Do not judge me, isolated as we are on this side of Dereth."

You give Jin Ghao Tethana's Response.
Jin Ghao tells you, "So, the King of Sanamar courts Fort Tethana. And they are still receptive, even after what happened to Kurth? Damn them all."
Jin Ghao tells you, "Take this missive to Lieutenant Commander Margyle. They will show allegiance to their Queen! No further dealings with Varicci are to be tolerated!"
Jin Ghao tells you, "Go!"

Jin Ghao gives you The Queen's Missive.

You give Arwyth Margyle The Queen's Missive.
Arwyth Margyle tells you, "I tire of supposed "diplomats" who think that their own desires are more important than the needs of a tired fortress beseiged on all sides by enemies."
Lieutenant Commander Margyle appraises you with a steady eye, then nods.
Arwyth Margyle tells you, "I do not think you are of the same cloth as them. I have a letter prepared. I trust you to deliver it to whoever you feel is most likely to aid Fort Tethana, be they a Queen...or a King. Let them send men to reinforce us, and then perchance we will consider alliance."
Arwyth Margyle gives you Tethana's Price.

You give Grand Knight Tethana's Price.
Grand Knight tells you, "So, you are the Lieutenant Commander's messenger, are you? You have certainly done her a great service. The King will welcome this information."
Grand Knight tells you, "Now, if you would truly be of service, get back out there and fight. A land at war is a glorious land indeed!"

You've earned 720,000 experience.
Grand Knight gives you Renlen's Grace.

You give Jin Ghao Tethana's Price.
Jin Ghao tells you, "They make demands of the Queen? Their allegiance is not theirs to barter!"
Jin Ghao tells you, "I apologize. I should not raise my voice to you. You have done your Queen a great service. Take your reward and go."

You've earned 720,000 experience.
Jin Ghao gives you Blade of the Realm.

Notes

  • Timer changed to 13 days and the Xp reward increased from 720,000 to 5.3 million during the Reforging the Past event.
  • Originally, Jared Kurth was leading the defense against the Renegades. He disappeared during the Ashes and Dust event, and was replaced by Arwyth Margyle.
  • Original Dialog:
    • Soldier in Fort Tethana:
Soldier tells you, "You seek Commander Kurth? The Renegades are tunneling beneath the fort. The commander led a force of men down below to deal with the creatures before they could break through the earth. You can find the entrance to the pit just southwest of here. It's still on the plateau, though."
    • Jared Kurth:
Jared Kurth tells you, "If you come here to fight, then fight. I've no time for discourse."
    • Soldiers next to Jared Kurth
Soldier tells you, "The Renegades have been at our door for years. And in all that time, what reinforcement has the Queen shown us?"
Soldier tells you, "Commander Kurth has long been the only force that held this fort together. Were it not for him, we would have fallen long ago."
Soldier tells you, "We hear the talk of blue-skins out of the north. We understand the fear they instill in many who follow the Queen, but we have our own problems to deal with here. If the blue-skins would aid us in this conflict, who are we to hold to ancient grudges?"
Soldier tells you, "I've seen those Knights in action, and I must say, I am impressed. If Commander Kurth were to gain control of soldiers such as those, Fort Tethana would surely be a force to be reckoned with."
