You perceive words inscribed within - the whisper you overheard outside Thorsten's Tomb, but paraphrased.. You bring the two gems into proximity. They both give off a small pop and vanish in clouds of purple mist. The mist coalesces into a ghostly arrow tipped with a small dab of black goo.
