Does a fire hammer act the same as a fire axe?

Question Title: | Does a fire hammer act the same as a fire axe? |
Category: | Combat |
Question: | Someone told me that a fire axe is better than a fire hammer when fighting Shadows, since they're also vulnerable to slashing. I was under the impression that the elemental aspect of a weapon superceded the physical weapon type. Was this person right, or should I keep using my flaming hammer? |

Answer: | You're right. If a weapon is elemental, it no longer has physical damage qualities (slash/pierce/bludgeon). Assuming the base damage and damage variances are the same, the fire axe and fire hammer would perform exactly the same against a Shadow. |
