Question: Eric, not to be a pest with this, but I just want to give you a chance to clarify, in case your previous answer was wrong. :) I'm assuming you're right, but....

ID:7520 says: (edited for clarity)

armor level =
your natural armor
+/- any "armor" or "imperil" spells
+ physical armor at that spot.

This value is then modified by the armor's attribute for the given attack type.

Now, the question is, what does 'this value' refer to. It could be the 'armor level' of a spot, or it could just be the physical armor value at that spot.

This is what caused question id=7623, and your answer implies that 'this value' that is modified by the armor's attribute is simply the physical armor value at that spot. :)

But I just wanted to be sure....using the example in 7623,
(player, Armor Self IV, gloves AL:50 poor to fire)
the formula would be:

armor level = 0 + 100 + (50*0.1) = 105

rather than

armor level = (0 + 100 + 50)*0.1 = 15
or
armor level = 0 + (100 + 50)*0.1 = 15

I hope this is right (well, given that the 'poor' in this case ends up really bad poor of 0.1 :)

Answer: You're right, that wasn't very clear. I have altered 7520 to be a bit more legible.

The elemental-protection attributes on a piece of armor only count towards that piece of armor's AL value, not your overall armor value for that body part.
