Is it possible to message Offline Characters?

Question Title: Is it possible to message Offline Characters?
Category: Communications
Question: Now, I know it most likely won't get done, due to the fact that it isn't very important, but I'm still curious.
Would it be possible to add offline messaging? How hard would it be? I know the server would have to store these, but could just be added to the recipient's player file? A few extra bytes of storage for each message wouldn't be bad, if there was a lmit to length and number of messages that could be sent at a time.

Answer: This has been talked about a lot here recently, and I for one would like to see it happen. It has several serious technical issues, and a bunch of gameplay issues as well (such as how do you stop annoying people from filling your mailbox with spam? You have to have mail-block lists, and other spam-blocking tools). All of these problems can be overcome, but it won't happen for a while, if ever.
