Overview
Alchemy Gems, which offer an alternative to Life Magic buffs, were created as a result of Hiro, Arcanum Artificer's research, with a little help from Ciandra. The process is described in The New Alchemy. Creation uses Alchemy. Creation is a standard crafting skill check. After crafted, the gems can be given and traded.
General Crafting Steps
- Obtain a Crucible from Archmage Zarri ibn Khaybi in Xarabydun at 41.9S, 16.2E
- Use Concentrated Aqua Incanta on a Pyreal Mote, Pyreal Sliver, Pyreal Nugget, Pyreal Bar or Quality Pyreal Ingot to create different amounts of Aqua Vitae
- The result of using a Pyreal Mote is 15 Aqua Vitae
- The result of using a Pyreal Sliver is -- Aqua Vitae
- The result of using a Pyreal Nugget is 25-30 Aqua Vitae
- The result of using a Pyreal Bar is 50-55 Aqua Vitae
- The result of using a Quality Pyreal Ingot is 375 Aqua Vitae
- Use the Crucible on different Spell Potions to create a Crucible with Potion
- The potion and the later added Powdered Gem determine the spell type (see Table below)
- Use the Crucible with Potion on a Herb to create a Potion and Herb Crucible
- The Herb determines the level of the spell
- Eyebright - Level III - Gem of Lesser <Life Buff>
- Henbane - Level IV - Gem of <Life Buff>
- Amaranth - Level V - Gem of Improved <Life Buff>
- Frankincense - Level VI - Gem of Greater <Life Buff>
- Hyssop - Level VII - Adept's Gem of <Life Buff>
- The Herb determines the level of the spell
- Use Aqua Vitae on the Potion and Herb Crucible to create a Treated Potion and Herb Crucible
- Use the Treated Potion and Herb Crucible on a Powdered Gem to create a spell gem
