Walk Through
- Take the Eastwatch portal (90.3N 43.2W) in Sanamar and run to the pass into the Shattered Outlands at 93N 47W. Once through the pass head due east to the small cave at 94.2N 43.0W.
- Speak to the Hermit inside, she will give you a Bag of Life Stone Chips, then enter the portal to Thrungus Hole. The portal is tiable and summonable.
- The Thrungus cast life debuffs, lots of war, and hit very very hard. Scattered through the dungeon are six Baby Thrungus. Give the Bag of Lifestone Chips to each baby. Refer to the dungeon map (Thrungus Hole) for locations.
- Giving the chips causes several higher level Thrungus to spawn so if you are doing this solo you may want to pop a portal gem before handing the chips, then hit the portal as soon as you've handed. Then last portal recall, dispel, and head to the next baby. A group should be able to just kill the spawn.
- After you have handed to all six, you'll get a message that you have been coated with dust and to talk to the Hermit again. Last portal recall and use the surface portal.

Lore & Dialog
Hermit tells you, "Stranger! Hear my words."
Hermit tells you, "Long ago I stumbled upon an ancient Falatacot tomb. In my foolish quest for riches I defiled the tomb only to trigger an ancient curse that causes my flesh to melt. Behold!"
Hermit removes her hood to reveal a face that is half melted away.
Hermit tells you, "This melting of my body will continue until I die in twisted agony. My peace lasts but a moment as those accursed life stones will bring me back to life whereupon the cycle will begin anew."
Hermit tells you, "My search for a cure has brought me here. Will you not help me find solace? The Thrungus within this cave possess a unique ability to process rocks by digesting them. Take these and feed them to the Thrungus. Bring me back a sample of the processed stones."
Hermit gives you Bag of Life Stone Chips.
For the first five times:
You allow Baby Thrungus to examine your Bag of Life Stone Chips.
The Baby Thrungus eats some of the Life Stone Chips and then spits them out.
The Baby Thrungus starts to cry.
For the sixth time:
You allow Baby Thrungus to examine your Bag of Life Stone Chips.
The Baby Thrungus hungrily eats some of the Life Stone Chips.
The Baby Thrungus emits a loud contented squeal along with a puff of powdery substance that covers you from head to toe.
This must be what the hermit was after. Hurry and return to the hermit before the Thrungus Powder dissipates.
Hermit tells you, "Yes! This is it!"
Hermit tells you, "You deserve to know the truth. It is my belief that this dust will sever my ties to the Life Stones so when next I die I will not be brought back. My heart aches for having to deceive you, but I feared you would not help me had I told you the truth."
Hermit carefully collects the Thrungus Dust from your clothes and then suddenly her smile turns to one of sadness.
Hermit tells you, "But do not despair my friend. For while you were gone I started to have misgivings about my actions. Perhaps death is not the answer I should seek."
You've earned 99,000,000 experience.
Hermit gives you 4 Trade Notes (250,000).
Hermit gives you Thrungus Reaper Certificate.
You've earned 99,000,000 experience.
Hermit gives you Golden Gromnie.
Hermit gives you Thrungus Reaper Certificate.
Give back the reaper certificate:
Hermit tells you, "I bestow upon you the title of "Thrungus Reaper"."
You give Hermit Bag of Life Stone Chips.
Hermit tells you, "Seek me out if you should need more of these."
Speaking to Hermit before timer is up:
Hermit tells you, "Thanks to you I now have a means to put end to my torment and yet I now lack the courage to use it. Does my life mean so little that I can throw it away so carelessly? Was I put here on this land for a purpose? So many questions to be answered."
Notes
- During the Reforging the Past event, the quest timer was standardized from 14 to 13 days.
