Walk Through

  1. [Optional] Go to Zaikhal and speak to Danira the Dusty at 13.9N, 0.1E, she tells you to retrieve a Master Seal in the Graveyard at 65.6S, 43.9W.
  2. Head to the Graveyard and make your way to the crypt located at 65.6S, 43.9W. Inside you will find an ancient chest, open it and take Rytheran's Master Seal. Each person will need one.
    • Route: The crypt is straight ahead and to the left when existing the Graveyard Recall bunker. Otherwise, run to the coords listed from the Halls of Metos near Wai Jhou.
  3. Take the Master Seal to the statue located outside at 74.7N, 18.4E. Give the Master's Sentinel statue your Rytheran's Master Seal and it will teleport you to the dungeon (the drop is safe).
    • Route: Take the Neydisa Castle portal in the south wing of the Town Network.
    • Note: Giving the seal to the statue permanently flags you to enter the dungeon. For repeat runs, there is no need to get another seal, just use the statue.
    • Note: Use the surface portal at the drop and then re-use the statue in order to set your portal recall to the dungeon in case of death.
  4. Once inside Lord Rytheran's Private Sanctum, proceed north and then east through the dungeon, killing or running past the undead creatures until you come upon a room with a 3-way split.
  5. To proceed to the east, you must have use a key which is made from collecting key pieces to the north and south. Only 1 key is needed, so one person can get the key while others wait if desired.
  6. To the north you will find an undead named Majordomo of the North Cloister, kill him and retrieve the North Cloister Key, use this on the nearby locked northern cloister door.
  7. Continue north and you will encounter many Blood Priestesses, who spam level 7 acid attacks and drain your health and mana quite a bit. You can kill them or run past them. Eventually you will reach a dead end room with a North Cloister Key Half on the floor. Pick it up and head back to the 3-way split room again.
  8. Proceed to the south and kill the Majordomo of the South Cloister to retrieve the South Cloister Key. Use it on the nearby locked southern cloister door.
  9. Continue south and you will encounter many Celestial Illuminators, who are similar to the Blood Priestesses. Again kill them or run past until you reach a dead end room with a South Cloister Key Half on the ground. Pick it up and return to the 3-way split room again.
  10. Combine the North Cloister Key Half with the South Cloister Key Half to create Key to the Lord's Sanctum.
    + =
  11. With your group together, head to the east and use the Key to the Lord's Sanctum to unlock the Lord's Sanctum door. Jump over the pit and continue onward.
  12. Eventually you will reach a room with 2 Imperial Guards and 2 Imperial Archivists standing on a square block of obsidian in the middle of a room. Clear the room.
  13. Pick up Rytheran's Untranslated Journal off of the floor. Each person will need one. The respawn timer is several minutes. Avoid using the lectern in the center of the room as it spawns more undead.
  14. Head to Zaikhal and give Rytheran's Untranslated Journal to Danira the Dusty up the hill to receive Rytheran's Journal and an experience reward.

Lore & Dialog

Speaking with Danira:
Danira the Dusty tells you, "Ah, you may be able to help me. I seek an artifact of the dread undead lord Rytheran. I think the ley line disturbances across the realm have opened up a gate into his personal library. There is some kind of gate that appeared within the old Mage Academy... But I believe, to enter it, you must have a seal of Rytheran's... A seal that my scouts have traced to a crypt in the Empyrean Graveyard in the Direlands. The graveyard can be found at 65 S, 44 W, but I do not know which crypt within its expansive grounds would contain the seal you need."

Danira the Dusty tells you, "Go search the crypts in that graveyard, and try to find Rytheran's lordly seal that will allow you into his Library. Enter the library through the gate near the Mage Academy and search for books. It may be too much to ask that the Book of Eibhil is still in there, but perhaps some journal of Rytheran's would help illuminate the trail to that terrifying artifact. In any case, please bring me whatever books you may find in there."

Showing Danira Seal:
You allow Danira the Dusty to examine your Rytheran's Master Seal.

Danira the Dusty tells you, "Yes, this is the seal of Rytheran's that I asked you to find, but the seal itself does me no good. As I told you, the gate to Rytheran's Library can be found near the old Mage Academy. The entrance portal to that dungeon can be found at 74.7 N, 18.5 E. Search for some new formation or artifact near that portal."

Statue interaction:
The statue remains inert, unmoving, and vaguely menacing.

You give Master's Sentinel Rytheran's Master Seal

The statue seems to glimmer for a moment, and a disembodied voice intones, "Welcome back, Master. Even in our ageless vigil, you have been long absent."

Using Master's Lectern:
The lectern pulses with a malign intelligence as you touch it, and it almost feels like it is examining you... Suddenly, a discordant shriek echoes in your mind, and the pedestal makes its displeasure known.

Master's Lectern tells you, "Thief! Impostor! Master has already removed the Book of Eibhil!"

Bringing Journal to Danira:
You give Danira the Dusty Rytheran's Untranslated Journal

Danira the Dusty tells you, "You recovered Rytheran's Journal? Excellent!"

Danira briefly skims the pages of Dericostian runes.

Danira the Dusty tells you, "Unfortunate... The journal provides little information about where he has hidden the Book of Eibhil. I suppose it was too much to hope for. Still, this book has done much to illuminate the undead lord's thinking, and it shows us he is intimately involved with the ley line disturbances and the rise of the graveyard... Oh, what has Rytheran unleashed?"

Danira the Dusty tells you, "I thank you for this. I'll provide you with a translation of the text, for your own edification, and some practical knowledge "

Danira gives you Rytheran's Journal
