Ratings

All quests are rated on four factors on a scale of 0 to 4. The overall rating is the average of the four criteria.

• Experience is a combination of multiple factors - the maximum exp value, the worth of that exp at the intended level range, the time it takes to complete the quest, and the timer to repeat - to determine the value of running and repeating a quest for experience points.

• Lore is a rating of the overall quality of the story and characters of a quest. It is not necessarily a rating of the volume of lore or how major it is to the overall story.

• Atmosphere is a rating of the look and feel of the places you visit during a quest.

• Level of Engagement is the ability of a quest to be engaging; to keep your attention and interest.

A note on difficulty: While I wanted to include difficulty as a factor, I could not think of a way to do so. First, there is the issue on what is a good level of difficulty. Does a quest get a good difficulty rating if it is easy to complete, hard to complete, or right in the middle? Next, there is the issue of characters and players. Some quests are simply easier or harder for a certain character type, and some players are more skilled than others. Last, there is character strength and size of group. I can't assume that every solo'able quest will be solo'd by a character of the intended level range, for example. Being slightly above the intended level range, or having one or two extra players with you can dramatically change the difficulty of a quest. Because of all these factors, I chose not to include difficulty when rating a quest.
