Playing a Warrior

You've made a few updates to the Playing a Warrior guide. When I created the guide, I meant it to be a beginner's guide, which is why on the New Player Guide it is listed under Beginner Guides for common classes. I intentionally did not mean for it to go into much depth on the mechanics of melee combat and such. However, I understand that this information should be presented somewhere. So I have created page titles for beginner and advanced guides. You can see them here: User:An Adventurer/Sandbox. I am going to place the text from Playing a Warrior prior to your edits on the Beginner's Guide to Playing a Warrior. I encourage you to take the information you added there and modify it to fit in the Advanced Guide to Playing a Warrior. --An Adventurer 16:21, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

I have not changed anything on the Playing a Warrior article. I have however created a new article titled Beginner's Guide to Playing a Warrior which contains the text prior to your edits, along with some updated based on a few of the things you added (still in progress).

I disagree that in depth character creation and detailed game mechanics should be presented on the beginner's guide. I have a few reasons for this. 1) Simply put, it is a lot of information. We want the page to be short and to the point. 2) It is a bit complex for a beginner. Despite being a 10 year old game, there are a great deal of hidden (and not hidden) mechanics that go into combat. Its a lot to digest. We don't want to scare away new players by how complex the game sounds. The purpose of the beginner's guides, IMO, should be to briefly help a total newb understand the process of creating a warrior, archer, or mage. It should clear up some basic confusion, like what the general differences between the weapon skills are, or what to consider when selecting innate attributes.

I think that and advanced guide is the perfect place to go into more details. Things like weapon stats and how attributes interact with them, or hidden damage mods, how to tinker weapons, etc. And also tactics like when to use what special properties, attack through doors/using terrain, luring, shield walls, and so on.
