Unexpected visitors have arrived in Dereth from abroad. Calling themselves the Brotherhood of Shapers, these artisans promise to teach Dereth's crafters the secrets of the Golden Age.
To the resource-stripped Dereth, the Shapers' secrets of mining and forging are beyond price. These gifts are offered freely -- yet might there be hidden dangers in the husks of ancient technology?
One this is certain: if any Kingdom can gain advantage from the Shapers, it will not hesitate. The Dominion's search for a new Imperator reaches its climax, and Aun Tanua seeks restlessly for a way to seize the mastery of Dereth.
