Introduction

Spear-Wielding Tumeroks - Official Turbine Artwork

The base missile tree for Tumeroks is designed for use with a throwing spear. A Tumerok wielding a spear may also wear a shield to improve their forward-facing armour rating.

Most spear skills have additional effects, such as bleeds, armour-ignoring damage, and vigour damage, and may also give combination bonuses when chained. At melee range, a spear Tumerok has access to a (rather weak) root, as well as a double strike, and a powerful bleed. The Malady skills are considered run-castable, and may be used both at range or in melee. At low level, the skills Barbed Spear and Gore are rotated to push out higher base damage, but these skills were designed prior to the Hero patch, and as such do not scale past level 50.

Tumerok Base Missile combines relatively well with the Feral Intendant, Healer and Invoker classes. Spear Hybrids are only considered less effective than pure classes due to the dynamics of the Hero 1.0 class bonus skills (Major Max Damage, hero skills may require a different weapon), and lack of an adept mastery skill. Spear hybrids are fun to play, and great for someone wanting something a little less ordinary, or trying to separate themselves from the FOTM crowd :P

From the Tumerok Base Missile skill tree, a character has access to the two specialized classes - the Clawbearer and Hivekeeper.

If you play either specialized class, even if you take no other skills from the base Missile tree, you will want to take, as appropriate while leveling, the Missile Master, Missile Grandmaster, and Missile Paragon skills. These extremely important skills will improve your chance to hit and defend against missile attacks.
