Quest Overview

Quest related to Asheron's departure into Bur. Commonly referred to as Bur Flagging Quest.

  • Tip: It's a good idea to get a tie to the Glystaene Cottages settlement portal (8.8N 60.9E). You'll be going back here several times and it will save you a lot of time.
  • If you pick up the wrong item in one of the dungeons, there is a 30-minute timer for you to pick up another. So don't make a mistake. The golem inside of each dungeon will verify that you have the correct item if you attempt to give it to him.
  • You cannot skip dungeons, you must do them in the order below.
  • No killing required - just run to the various places and grab / turn-in the items.
  • For characters under level 80, see Asheron's Departure Lower.
  • The Bur Portal Summoning quest can be done conveniently while doing this one. Handy if you want a bit of extra experience.

Walk Through

  1. Speak with Shan Zhen in Cragstone: 25.8N, 49.2E.
  2. Speak with Portal Servitor at the Bur Portal Summoning Site: 67.4N, 30.5E
  3. Enter the to Realaidain Eastern Vault at 52.5N, 39.1E, and pick up the Ancient Necklace with the description that contains the words: a crown studded with emeralds (it is located on the southwest pedestal of the western side).
  4. Return the necklace to the Portal Servitor at the Bur Portal Summoning Site.
  5. Enter the Realaidain Northern Vault at 75.8N, 4.3E, and pick up the Ancient Ring with the description that contains the words: a sword ringed in purple fire, with the flames made of artfully layered amethyst shards (located on the center pedestal on the southern side).
  6. Return item to Portal Servitor at the Bur Portal Summoning Site.
  7. Enter the to Realaidain Western Vault at 58.0N, 20.8W, and pick up the Ancient Goblet with the description that contains the words: an alternating pattern of diamonds and engraved leaves (located on the south east pedestal on the northern side).
    • Route: Stonehold to Hidden Valley portal at 69.6N, 20.2W.
    • You cannot run directly to the vault due to high cliffs and will need to go to the left or right to find a way onto the plateau (for example at 59.2N 19.8W).
  8. Return item to Portal Servitor at the Bur Portal Summoning Site.
  9. Bring Asheron's Departure Journal to Shan Zhen in Cragstone to get the Bur flag.

Long Walk Through

Staring Point: Shan Zhen in Cragstone - 25.8N, 49.2E.


Shan Zhen tells you, "I need to ask your help, and you may possibly even need my help. We still seek much information about Asheron before he left Dereth. The Portal Servitor Golem that kept track of Asheron's last movements prior to his departure to Bur still maintains a very tight security and refuses to divulge its master's secrets! Please travel to the Empyrean temple at 67.4N 30.5E and see if you can get the Golem to reveal what it knows! If you do this, I think I can attune you to be able to pass to Bur, despite Asheron's wards."

Portal Servitor tells you, "I sense that the apprentices of the sword sage have sent you. This is meet by my master's wishes. But I must ensure that you are a true friend of my master. You must bring me three heirlooms of the House of Realaidain. A true friend of my master would know such artifacts. Bring me first the necklace that belonged to my master's family."


For a clue on the location of the vault, head back to Cragstone and speak with Shan Zhen.

Eastern Vault

Shan Zhen tells you, "Ah, you've made contact with the Portal Servitor? Excellent. But it demands some kind of family heirloom of Asheron's? A necklace that once belonged to House Realaidain? I half-expected some kind of test like this. Here, this note may illuminate your search for such a necklace..."

Shan Zhen gives you Eastern Vault Notes.


Head to Holtburg, then run to the Holtburg Settlement Portals at 40.2N, 35.1E and take the Mountain Keep Cottages Portal. Run East by Northeast to 52.5N, 39.1E

Realaidain Eastern Vault - 52.5N, 39.1E


House Golem tells you, "My master left me here to pass knowledge along to those who serve the sword sage. Is that you? I cannot fulfill my function and give you what I was charged to give you because I have been damaged by the servants of evil, who have taken over this vault. Seek out the dark mage that bears the portion of Imbued Pyreal that was taken from me. Bring me back that which I have lost, and I will be able to fulfill my master's geas."

You give House Golem Imbued Pyreal Mote.

House Golem tells you, "This is what I seek. I am now fully capable of discharging the duties upon which my master laid me. He left a note for me to give to those who would follow him at the direction of the sword sage. I give this to you now and consider my duty fulfilled."

To reach the northern vault go to Mount Esper-Crater Village, run to the settlement portals at 66.3N, 14.3E and take the Frosty Dale Cottages portal. The vault is a short run away at 75.8N, 4.3E. If you don't have a Crater portal handy, head to Holtburg, take the Neydisa Castle portal, and run to 75.8N, 4.3E.

Realaidain Northern Vault - 75.8N, 4.3E

Head to Stonehold and then to the settlement portals at 69.6N, 20.2W. Take the Hidden Valley settlement portal. From there run up the hillside to the north, then west, then south over the valleys to the vault at 58.0N, 20.8W.
