Help talk:Naming Conventions

Is there a standard for retired items? I see (Old) and (Retired) used in some file names. "Previous" is used in some of the text labels. Also there is a porblem when there are at least three versions of some items. I know there are three versions of Shadow Armor, Robe of the Tundra, and Staff of the Nomads. Any ideas on how to handle this? My thought is to name items with the month and year or with the name of the event they were introduced or changed in parenthesis. Hi there, I also wondered about this. I personally add retired items with parenthesis but like you said loads of retired items are done in different ways. When I added the Post-patch and Neo GSA pages I just used a number for the 2nd set but now I can't show the armor in tables in patch trees (I hate tables) -Ash. --Tiger1986 11:14, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

You're right, we need to establish a standard way of handling retired/multi version/level req version items. The others should weigh in also and then we can update existing pages to be uniform. I like having all versions on a single page when they share the same name and have each item in its own section with the current in game version/highest level req item topmost. I like you idea of naming old versions by the patch they were introduced, though that might not always be known, we might want to wait to do the cleanup of old entries until we've finished fleshing out the old patch pages, Tiger's been working a lot on those lately. After the others have weighed in we will update the Naming Conventions though so for new pages we can do them all in a standard way. --Tlosk 11:18, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

If you're going to use numbers, I think the retired version should be named normally (nothing added to the name). Then when a new version is added later you should label it with 2/3 or (2)/(3) or with the patch name. That way you don't have to label everything with a special tag before a another version is added. --Jaguar 00:20, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
