The majority of the retired live event titles were handed out over a period of several months in 2005 while the expansion Throne of Destiny was being completed and monthly patches were temporarily suspended. Turbine Developers wanted to make up for the lack of patches in small part by having a large number of Live Events where a developer would appear in world with a special task or mini quest for anyone online at the time.
